What it does?

Tallow's fatty acid profile is remarkably similar to your own skin's sebum, which is why it absorbs so easily instead of sitting on top. It's naturally rich in vitamins A, D, E, and K — nutrients your skin needs to repair itself, stay moisturized, and maintain a healthy barrier. Because it's biologically similar to what your skin already produces, it works with your skin instead of against it.
ORGANIC OLIVE OIL
What it does?
for a gentle, conditioning bar
Olive oil is the backbone of a mild bar. It saponifies into a soap that cleans slowly and gently, which is why it's been the base of Castile soap for centuries — the kind traditionally used on babies and sensitive skin. On its own it makes a low, slippery lather and a soft bar that needs a long cure, so it's paired with tallow and coconut here to build structure and bubbles. What it contributes is conditioning: it leaves skin feeling soft rather than stripped, and it's what keeps a high-cleansing bar from being harsh.
ORGANIC COCONUT OIL
What it does?
for cleansing power and a rich lather
Coconut oil is what makes soap actually clean and lather. It saponifies into a hard bar with big, quick bubbles, and it's one of the few oils that will lather in hard water. It's also the most cleansing oil in the bar, meaning it strips oil efficiently — which is exactly why it's used in a measured amount rather than as the base. Too much coconut oil makes a bar that squeaks and dries; balanced against tallow and olive, it does its job without taking your skin's moisture with it.
ORGANIC CASTOR OIL
What it does?
for a stable, creamy foam
Castor oil is the lather stabilizer. Used at a small percentage, it takes the big airy bubbles from coconut oil and turns them into a dense, creamy foam that holds up while you're washing instead of collapsing. It's also humectant — it draws moisture toward the skin — which adds to the conditioning side of the bar. Used too heavily it makes soap sticky and soft, so it stays a supporting ingredient: a few percent is all it takes to change how the whole bar feels in your hands.
NATURAL COLORANTS
What it does?
Gives each product its natural hue — never a synthetic dye. Color in these balms comes entirely from the plant itself, so shade may vary slightly batch to batch
ORGANIC ESSENTIAL OILS
What it does?
Steam-distilled or cold-pressed from real plants, delivering natural scent and skin benefits without synthetic fragrance.
SODIUM HYDROXIDE (LYE)
What it does?
The essential alkaline catalyst that binds with natural oils to transform them into real, gentle soap through saponification.
Lye (sodium hydroxide) is the essential alkali element required to make true, traditional bar soap. When mixed with water and combined with plant oils and fats, lye triggers a chemical process known as saponification. During this reaction, the lye converts the oil molecules into soap and natural glycerin. Once the soap fully cures, zero lye remains in the final bar—leaving behind a pure, gentle cleanser that cleanses effectively without harsh synthetic detergents.
ORGANIC CANE SUGAR
What it does?
A natural additive that boosts lather to create rich, fluffy, and luxurious bubbles in handmade soap.
Organic cane sugar serves as a natural lather booster in cold-process and hot-process soap making. When dissolved into the lye water before mixing with oils, the plant-derived sucro-compounds feed the soap's bubble production. This creates a denser, creamier, and much fluffier lather without the need for synthetic foaming agents or harsh chemical surfactants like SLS.
